Intermediate English listening exercise ยท Sightseeing & Tours

Transcript

Ranger: Welcome to Evergreen National Park. Before you head out on the trails, there are a few important things to know. Visitor: How difficult is the main trail? Ranger: The valley loop is easy, about four kilometers and takes roughly ninety minutes. The summit trail is strenuous, twelve kilometers with an elevation gain of eight hundred meters. That one takes five to six hours. Visitor: We are moderately fit. Which do you recommend? Ranger: I would suggest the waterfall trail. It is moderate difficulty, seven kilometers, and you will see three stunning waterfalls. It takes about three hours and the views are the best in the park. Visitor: Are there any bears in the area? Ranger: Yes, black bears are active this time of year. Store all food in the bear-proof containers at the picnic areas. If you encounter a bear, stay calm, make yourself look large, and back away slowly. Never run. Visitor: Good to know. Can we swim in the lake? Ranger: Swimming is allowed in Lake Mirror only. The water is cold, about fifteen degrees, so be prepared.
