SaaS Logistics Pitch to Angels

Intermediate English listening exercise · Startup Pitches

Transcript

[Founder] I'm Wei Zhang from ShipSmart. E-commerce shipping is broken. Small businesses pay thirty to fifty percent more than large retailers for the same shipping services. We're leveling the playing field. [Angel] How does ShipSmart work? [Founder] We aggregate shipping volume from thousands of small businesses and negotiate bulk rates with carriers — FedEx, UPS, DHL, and regional carriers. Our platform automatically selects the cheapest and fastest option for each shipment. [Angel] So it's like a group buying platform for shipping? [Founder] Exactly, but smarter. Our algorithm considers package dimensions, weight, destination, delivery speed, and carrier reliability scores to optimize every shipment. On average, our users save thirty-four percent on shipping costs. [Angel] Who are your customers? [Founder] Primarily Shopify and WooCommerce merchants doing between one hundred and ten thousand shipments per month. We have two thousand active merchants on the platform. [Angel] Revenue? [Founder] We take a small margin on each shipment. We're doing four hundred thousand in monthly revenue with sixty-five percent gross margins. We've been growing twenty percent month over month for the last six months. [Angel] What are the risks? [Founder] Our biggest risk is carrier contract negotiations. We mitigate that by working with twelve different carriers, so no single carrier represents more than twenty percent of our volume. We're raising one point five million to expand our carrier network and add international shipping.
