Alex: Hello everyone. Our team has been working on a project about renewable energy solutions for urban areas. I will cover solar energy, and my partner Jamie will discuss wind power. Alex: Solar panels have become sixty percent cheaper in the last decade. Many cities are now installing them on rooftops of public buildings. In Germany, solar energy accounts for ten percent of total electricity production. Jamie: Thank you, Alex. Now let me talk about wind power. Offshore wind farms are growing rapidly. The United Kingdom's offshore wind capacity is among the largest in the world. These turbines can power thousands of homes. Professor: Great work. What are the main challenges you identified? Jamie: The biggest challenge is energy storage. Renewable sources are intermittent, meaning they do not produce energy all the time. We need better battery technology to store excess energy for cloudy or calm days. Alex: We also found that initial installation costs remain high, though they are decreasing every year.
