International Student Welcome Event
Intermediate English listening exercise ยท Campus Life
Transcript
Coordinator: Welcome, everyone! We are so glad to have international students from over forty countries this year. This session will help you navigate life in a new country. Student: I am worried about homesickness. Is there any support? Coordinator: Absolutely. Our international student office has counselors who specialise in cultural adjustment. We also run a buddy program that pairs you with a local student. Student: What about visa regulations? I heard there are restrictions on working. Coordinator: International students on F-1 visas can work up to twenty hours per week on campus during the academic year and full-time during breaks. Off-campus work requires special authorization. Student: Is there a place where we can cook food from our home countries? Coordinator: Each dormitory has a communal kitchen on the ground floor. We also organise an international food festival every semester where you can share dishes from your culture.
